Community Leadership Award
The Junior League of Hamilton-Burlington (JLHB) is now accepting nominations for its 2015 Community Leadership Award, to be presented at the League’s Annual Awards dinner on May 28, 2015.
The award recognizes women who, through their leadership and commitment to volunteerism, make Burlington and/or Hamilton a better place for women to live and work. Nominations for the award are open to any woman 18 years of age or older, living in the Hamilton-Burlington area who:
actively volunteers in the community
demonstrates outstanding initiative in the JLHB’s focus area of young women affected by poverty
demonstrates leadership skills
motivates others to be involved and volunteer in the community
“The Community Leadership Award is a fantastic way to celebrate and recognize local volunteers,” said Dianne Brown, President of the JLHB. “We are looking forward to receiving nominations from the community that showcase the incredible contribution of female volunteers in the Hamilton-Burlington area. We are well aware of the unmet needs in our community, especially in the area of young women affected by poverty, and this Award is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the issue and the people who are committed to making a change.”
“The Award is also a way for our League to demonstrate commitment to our mission to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and improve local communities”, Brown continues. “We are encouraging community groups and citizens at large to join us in our mission and consider submitting a nomination for the great work they are doing.”
The Award is presented at the League’s Annual dinner in May.
