The Eva Rothwell Resource Centre, operated by the Robert Land Community Association, is home to an ever-growing number of innovative programs and services that are helping to improve the quality of life and enhance social wellbeing for an entire North Hamilton neighbourhood. Some of the city's best kids are being inspired to bigger dreams and realizing unlimited potential. The Community Centre strives to provide access to community resources important to healthy living. Participants of the Junior League of Hamilton-Burlington Kids in the Kitchen will have an opportunity to enjoy the food that they prepare, sitting down to eat together as a community family. Quoting Don MacVicar, Robert land Community Association Board Chair: "There couldn't be a more perfect time in life for the Junior League to connect with the children of the Rothwell Resource Centre. They have created a new and exciting vision to engage children in an interactive learning workshop.  That will not only be fun, but create dreams for the children and help to make their dreams come true."


Hamilton Victorian Order of Nurses (VON)
VON Hamilton and the Junior League of Hamilton-Burlington, Inc. have committed to working together to offer more options for help to family caregivers. They have completed an initiative to renovate and expand VON’s Adult Day Centre to develop the VON-Junior League Respite Centre. The goal was to offer weekend overnight respite care for individuals who are enrolled in the adult day program. Families are able to take a break for one or two days, both day and night, while their family member is safe, comfortable and cared for by staff of the Adult Day Centre. www.vonhamilton.com

Ronald McDonald House
Ronald McDonald House in Hamilton is a charitable organization committed to providing a warm and compassionate homelike environment for families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at area hospitals. In 2003, the Junior League of Hamilton-Burlington, Inc. helped Ronald McDonald House celebrate their tenth birthday by organizing "My Big Fat Glitzy Gala". The very successful event raised $40,000. This was a special treat for us since the Junior League of Hamilton, Burlington, Inc. was instrumental in the creation of the Hamilton Ronald McDonald House. It began with a feasibility study by League members who subsequently were involved with the capital fundraising campaign and as members of the Board of Directors. With the support of the League, the House was built, decorated, and toured. Thousands of League dollars and volunteer hours contributed to success of the ‘House That Love Built’. YWCA FRIENDS for Success
YWCA FRIENDS for Success is a program of the YWCA Hamilton committed to helping individuals who are experiencing difficult life circumstances. By providing clothing and support necessary for employment success, they enhance the well-being of families and the community. To date, more than 1,200 individuals have been assisted – from both Halton and Hamilton partner agencies. Over 90 referral agencies send clients to FRIENDS. Over the past couple of years League members have collected clothing, volunteered their time to work with clients, painted their new location, and most recently, financially supported their speakers series.

Hamilton YWCA
In 1999 the Junior League of Hamilton-Burlington, Inc.’s focus was ‘Poverty and Abuse and its’ Effects on Women and Children”. The JLHB independent research and partnership with the Hamilton YWCA made accessing provincial funding possible and in April 2000 the Supervised Access program opened its’ doors. JLHB members are still volunteering in the program. The Supervised Access Centre of Hamilton is dedicated to providing a safe setting for positive interactions between children and parents or family members. The Supervised Access Centre provides an opportunity for non-custodial parents or other family members and their children to be together in a supervised setting, for scheduled visitations andor exchanges. The use of the Supervised Access Centre may be through a court order or through others identifying the need to keep children out of parental disputes. www.ywcahamilton.org

Grace Haven Home – Young Parent Resource Center
The Salvation Army's Grace Haven is a multi-agency partnership offering residential and day programmes in a compassionate environment, with educational opportunities and individualized social and parenting programs to enhance the lives of young single parents and their children.  In 2001, the Junior League of Hamilton-Burlington, Inc. partnered with the Salvation Army and other community partners to expand and renovate Grace Haven.  The Capital Campaign for the expansion of Grace Haven grew out of the need to enlarge the premises in its existing ideal and safe location for the increased number of residential and day clients who use the centre. The expansion made the entire premise more accessible, livable, serviceable and friendly for clients and staff and more aesthetically pleasing for the local Durand neighbourhood. The JLHB Young Parent Resource Centre, known as "The Source" at Grace Haven opened in 2003. JLHB members led the capital campaign and the League contributed over $100,000 and hundreds of volunteer hours to help provide a brighter future for young parents and their children. www.thesalvationarmy.ca
